Building Drawings for Unbuilt Projects,
2000-present.
For the ongoing installation work Building Drawings for Unbuilt Projects, Daly returns to her previous drawing installation from 1996: Building Drawings for a Machine for Electroplating the Dead; part of The Automaton Olympia's Cabinet of Curiosities, 1995-2002. 'The Cabinet ' project was exhibited at the Museum of Art Uppsala Sweden, Linda Kirkland Gallery and Lombard Freid in New York, and other venues in New York, Los Angeles, and Montreal.
An excerpt from a review in WorldArt Magazine describes Daly's first 'Building Drawing for Unbuilt Projects':
“Particularly compelling was a series of small, austere, yet strangely elegant pencil drawings on tracing paper, 'Building Drawings for a Machine for Electroplating the Dead,' quasi-scientific studies of odd contraptions that seemed simultaneously utilitarian and bizarre.” –G. Volk, World Art Magazine Review

The Little Ease
"The Little Ease was a torture device during the middle ages–which contorted and forced the inhabitant to its shape. This structure, once found, worked its way into my psyche as a stand-in for the confines of culture, for the claustrophobic box of gendered identity, and the shaping of body, behavior, and psyche to its form."
–Ann Burke Daly 2012
